I wanted to update everyone on Porchfestito planning:

--so far, all systems are GO.  The only problem is that I was trying to recruit two bands but ended up with 3...
--so currently the plan is to play from 5-8 on May 10.  8pm is a hard-stop time so encores may be limited!

I wanted to highlight a couple of points:
--I don't actually have a rain-check plan, so if the weather doesn't cooperate we'll probably have to scratch.  We'll cross that bridge when we come to it...
--I mentioned this before but wanted to emphasize it again:  I'm organizing this for people on this block and our friends, not for a cast of thousands.  So by all means invite your friends but please don't invite every single person you know or post about Porchfestito on social media--if the crowd gets too big, I'll have to pull the plug and won't be tempted to try this again in the future.   If you want big crowds, go to Adams Morgan Porchfest on May 3!

I could use help with a  few things:
1) we can't block the street but I plan to put out some traffic cones to narrow the street a bit and act as "traffic calming measures"... I have a few cones but if anyone else has some we can use pls let me know!
2)  We can't have people standing out in the street, so I'd like a few volunteers to help me steer people onto sidewalks, etc.  Bonus points if you have some kind of hi-viz vest we can use.
3)  I'd like to free up 2-3 parking spots in front of 1724, so would like to have some of us park there in the week prior to the 10th and then move our cars just prior to the event.  In addition to my car, I think we'd need two more (and a willingness to park there on Monday May 5th after street-sweeping and then park somewhere else just before showtime).  The two-three spots in front of 1724 are the ONLY parking spots that need to be freed-up.
4)  During the show I'd like a couple volunteers to swing through the ends of the block and the alley on the north side of the street a couple of times to check on noise levels--ideally the music will be barely noticeable other than here on the block.

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.  Unless I have to repeat my request for volunteers, the next update will be a few days before May 10 once the weather forecast is clear.  If I have links for the musicians by then I'll send those out too.

Regards,

Tom

Tom,
Unfortunately I will not be here.  (I will be in New River Gorge, W Va).  But I have ten yellow, unprinted XXX T shirts.  You and your may wear them. Just wash them and return them.   I have one yellow vest.  Ben and Jen have quite a few orange cones.
