Gurus,

Passing this on from our good friend, Ron Panzera from CCSD:

The 3rd Annual CCSD Dirty Devil approaches on Saturday, June 1, 2013.

We ask a favor of you. Please get the word out on this event to your friends and riding comrades. This is a unique event with a small band width in the cycling community and will grow by word of mouth over a few years time.

We look forward to hosting the event again this year, especially since it is part of the bigger King of the Road Challenge (http://www.epicrides.org/)

We've modified the routes this year to include 127-mile and 84-mile options that are a bit more direct and intuitive. We've kept three packed-dirt sections on the long loop (28 miles total), the key feature of this event. We also kept the dirt road riding clinic on Friday for those that want a taste before event day.

Here is the web page for the event:
http://www.ccsd.com/events/dirty-devil/

Thanks for passing it on!

This is a great ride. And Rob and Jo are awesome. This is a bucket list ride - particularly if you haven't ridden that portion of East County - Wynola, Santa Ysabel, Banner, Julian, etc.  Last year only a quarter of the field finished the Super Century (144 miles) last year.  I am just glad they got rid of the Double (202 miles, 20,000', 35 miles of dirt road including Nate Harrison at mile 105) which makes the BWR look like a easy recovery spin.

Tom

Why do ya' have to go and poke the bear Tom?  I can only imagine what kinda nasty route MMX is going to conjure up for next years BWR.

In all seriousness the Dirty Devil looks like a cool ride and a nice change of pace from the normal Saturday Ride.

It's only possible to make the BWR look like an easy recovery ride if it takes you more than 7 and half hours to complete…

So we are back to the handicapped time of the B group (16' forced delay) vs the A group? Who knows maybe next year I'll train for the BWR.

Or if you do the full Dirty in under 15 - I'll eat crow.

But seriously the full double was hard. First year no finishers - last year only four of us: Adam Pacal who bested me by 7 minutes, and two other fringe lunatics who had 70 doubles between the two of them. This year scrapped because their aren't enough hard men or hard women in the world.

Swamis,

CCSD is offering Swamis 15%-off registration for the Dirty Devil this Saturday.  The Swamis discount code is posted on the members-only section of Swamis.org.  As with all of our discount codes, please don't share outside of the club.

The ride looks pretty cool and a great excuse to explore some new routes so providing I get an extended hall pass from the first lady I'm planning on doing the 84-mile (2 Dirt) option.  It would be great to have some fellow Swamis out there to ride with so sign up and lets rock the dirt.

Steve
