Dear Swallow Union Parents,

Monday, May 17 is Dunstable's election day and Groton's election day is May 18. In addition to voting for Selectmen, School Committee members and other offices, you will be asked to vote yes or no to a school budget override question.

At both Groton and Dunstable's recent Town Meetings, voters gave the Selectmen permission to raise Groton and Dunstable residents' taxes over 2 1/2 percent from last year if voters say "yes" at the polls.

A "yes" vote on the override would allow the Groton Dunstable Regional School District to maintain current teachers, staff and programs.

A "no" vote would result in teacher layoffs and program cuts at all five schools. (See the complete list of cuts at www.gdrsd.org). Taxes still would be raised to the 2 1/2 percent allowed by law.

The Dunstable Free Public Library is Dunstable's voting location and will be open Monday, May 17 from 12 - 8 p.m

Groton residents vote at the Middle School North or the Senior Center on Tuesday, May 18. Groton polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

If you'd like more information, please consult www.gdrsd.org,  www.supportGDschools.org, or your respective Town websites/elected officials.  Please also feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you for your attention to these important town matters, and please remember to vote on Monday or Tuesday!

Sincerely,
Jodie Sannazzaro
Swallow Union APT President
