Hi all --Just a heads up that we got word from DPR that Randall Poll will be hosting one the District's End-of-Year Doggie Swim. YAY! and thanks to Bridget for making the contacts.A couple of things -1) We don't have the exact date, but TYPICALLY it is the Saturday after Labor Day Sept. 10???). So other than our lists, we can't post anything publicly just yet, but as soon as we do, we'll put it up on FB as well as put some posters out. Thanks for your discretion.2) You MUST have a current Dog License to attend the Doggie Swim (you should have it anyway to use the dog park. But no worries: The Department of Health will be there to issue you a license on the spot. You need to have:
- Completed application with current information.
- Proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations is required.
- Proof of sterilization (spaying or neutering) is required. (You can get a license for an intact dog; it just costs a lot more.)
- Each dog over four months old must have his/her own license.
- You can complete the online application, print it out and bring it with you, or you can fill it out on site. Here's the link: https://app.hpla.doh.dc.gov/mylicense/PersonSearchResults.aspx
3) Dept. of Parks and Rec/Dept. of Health would appreciate having some volunteers to help check people in, answer questions, etc. I can do a sign-up genius to create shifts and send it around to our lists to get coverage. If we have two people per hour, 8 volunteers spread out between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. would be awesome, and more are always welcome. You can have your well-behaved dog with you as you volunteer, or if your dog isn't a big swimmer or not too social, this is a great way to help out, go on in and watch the fun, etc., while your pooch snoozes at home. DPR keeps coming back to us in part because the dog community supports this event so well, both with volunteers and attendance (70-100 dogs throughout the day!)More details to come!Cheers,Gwyn

Hi all,
To be clear, It's one day a week, if you can and would like to open or close regularly -- ALWAYS welcome, to be sure!
If your schedule is less predictable, we would also welcome help as a sub and/or to do one or two weekend nights a month.
Questions or interested? Feel free to email me.
Have a great weekend, all!
Cheers,
Gwyn
