Hope you and your pup are staying cool in this summer heat and have marked your calendars to join us at the Lansburgh Dog Park for the SWNA Picnic in the Park!

This is a bring your own picnic, blankets, and chairs so be prepared!!

District Dogs, new daycare/boarding facility in the Navy Yard, will be coming to share information about their services and rates.  I’m also putting out a call for dog trainers or vet technicians who would be willing to come by and give some informal advice and guidance to dog owners.  Could that be you, or a friend?

We are also going to use this opportunity to hold a “Toy Swap.”  Never used, gently used, and clean toys that your pup never took to or has gotten bored with are excellent candidates for the exchange.  Collars, leashes, and harnesses are also welcomed.  Bring a few and go home with a few!!

See you in a few weeks!

I just saw Anita Bonds cancelled her community barbecue. I would guess the call would belong to DPR?
I wasn't going to be able to make it either way...
Stay cool!
Cheers,
Gwyn

Is the forecast temp of almost 100°F a reason to postpone Friday’s event?

Hi Bob!

I will check with SWNA. They are the lead for the Picnic in the Park series. Thanks for looking ahead and asking.

For my knowledge, where did you all see the cancellation notice?

I saw the same announcement, which is why I’m asking.

Thank you and I understand completely. Each person must take the weather forecast into consideration and make a decision that is right for them and their pup.

I will still attend (minus) my pup for a brief time. There is plenty of shade to keep the sun from shining directly on me and there is ample water available from the garden and dog park.

I welcome hearing if there is interest in planning another get-together for Dog owners in October?

Hi Bridget,

It was in Anita Bond’s e-mail from a few days ago.  I’ve deleted it so I can’t forward a copy.

With the temps forecast over 100°F on Friday with a heat index of 115 with unsafe air conditions, I no longer plan to attend the Friday picnic.

Bob
