Hello All:
This group was created almost 8 years ago when we were galvanized to establish a dog park in Southwest. Thank you so much for your support. We achieved that goal and our Lansburgh Dog Park has been open for almost 5 years. We also helped make SW home to the annual Running of the Chihuahuas and the Wiener 500; and we requested the City designate Randall Swimming Pool for the annual end-of-summer doggie swim day!!
In that time, our neighborhood has grown immensely with many more dogs. Similarly, family and careers have prompted others to move on or move away. As such, we need to update this Google Group and revisit our purpose.
The need for neighbors and pet-owners in SW willing to volunteer to keep our dog park clean, safe and popular is a priority.
We are also looking for dog trainers, vet techs, and other experts to conduct pop-up workshops; and creative fun people to plan neighborhood social events for dog-owners.. Advocates and champions are needed to put pressure on the City to install lights in Lansburgh Park; and dog owners in every apartment building, condo association and townhouse association could help by regularly posting news.
PAWS of Southwest will convene a Spring get-together in May. Date/time and location TBD so stay tuned.
In the meantime, if you no longer wish to receive email messages or call to actions from PAWS of Southwest, please sign-in to Google Group and remove yourself from this group: sw-dog-park.
Gabriel (my fawn boxer) and I look forward to seeing you and your pup! You'll find us mostly up and down G Street, the Duck Pond and The Wharf.
On behalf of PAWS of Southwest,
Bridget
