I would really like to coordinate an emergency response group within South Burlingame. With all of my exposure on this topic (
www.naturaldisastersbook.com) , I can testify to the often repeated chorus of folks who say "you are on your own" for the first 72 hours to two weeks in the event of a major disaster.
Did you get your SWNI paper this week? There were some good points to be made about preparedness, including my own article about joining
nextdoor.com.
Are you on the South Burlingame Nextdoor.com web site with the other 250 houses in our neighborhood? We are planning on organizing a SB Emergency Response Team as we will need it.
For other sources for earthquake info, I like Earthquake Alert on my phone that tells me about earthquakes in my area of the world. I did not get an alert to the ones referred to in Kent's email so I checked at USGS.Gov Real Time Earthquake alerts map, but I think he said it was only 1.7? That may not show up on those other sites. It is good to have multiple sources. In any event, it would behoove us to be in tune because he is right about developing a culture of preparedness.
Let's do this together in the event of any natural or man-made disaster, we will need each other's help and support. We have two grade schools with over 300 kids in our immediate neighborhood, can you imagine what would happen up there in the event of a large scale disaster?
Food for thought and check out the new message board at Burlingame Park.
