metallic blue hatchback maybe stealing mail

A half hour ago (4:45) I opened my garage door and, as the door opened, I heard a big ruckus. As the door finally lifted further, I saw a blue metallic (sort of periwinkle) small hatchback, low, and somewhat older PEALING backwards out of my drive, almost hitting another car as it went onto 3rd and turned onto Hume. 

The fact that the mail had arrived one minute before, coupled with the fact that my drive is long, so no one would come down far to turn around, makes me think someone was trying to steal the mail. 

I called the police non-emergency number, but want to let neighbors know in case they see this car shadowing the mail truck in the future or hanging around, or in case you are mysteriously missing your mail today.

Hi Jean,

NextDoor is a great portal that can potentially reach our entire South Burlingame neighborhood (it currently reaches 404 neighbors which is 296 of the 782 households in our area.)  It is much broader in scope and limited to those that physically have an address within the S. Burlingame boundaries.  It also has the ability to reach out to surrounding neighborhoods should the need arise.  I find it to be much more useful than our Google group.  As the administrator of the Google group, I’d love to see everyone eventually make the switch.  NextDoor provides exactly what we were trying to achieve with the Google group in a much more efficient manner.  There are categories such as Upcoming Events, Crime & Safety, Classifieds, Free Items, General, Lost & Found and Recommendations.  Once a member, you can customize your settings so that it fits your needs for information.  I highly recommend you give it a try.  Here’s the link:  https://burlingame.nextdoor.com

Hi Google Group,

Sorry to tack this on a different subject but just to let you know, (since I have lost my password) that I am hosting the now 3^rd annual Graveyard decorating party in my front yard. Most of the kids in the neighborhood know the routine and are ready to come.  The party starts at 1 on Sunday, Oct. 20.  I will be needing some help with some of the older kids to lug it all up from the back storage.  So, come at 12 if you want to help with that.

Just a reminder, kids under 6 must have a parent present.
