Does anyone have an update as to the status of the public Wi-Fi? I have not been able to log onto the servers for the past couple weeks. I connect to the node just fine but beyond that, nothing.

Same here, more than 2 weeks now.
Perhaps the person in charge is still on Vacation or the Mountain View
WiFi change has something to do with it ? (wifi.google.com)
Weeks ago I called support 408 365-4801 and got the answer machine. I
did leave a brief msg.
Yesterday I went mobile around town to see if it was working and no
success there.
Please, someone hit the reset button/reboot or respond to the prompt,
maybe that's it, ha ha.
Relative in Utah is getting Free Google Fiber for 7 years. Can't beat
that, it should be free,
commerce should pay the bill or ?

Doesn't look good now. No longer can connect to the Node. Perhaps they
read this posting
and decided to turn it off. Another interesting thing, the domain
www.svunwired.com has
changed. It looks like payment for hosting the site was not made and
probably up for sale now.
Lack of communication is evident and it leaves everyone guessing. We
paid for some of it.

This is an example of why government-run enterprises are inefficient.
The City of Milpitas could not keep up with this program, even though it partnered with tech giant, Google. This was a waste of money invested by Google and should be put to other philanthropical uses. The internet is down, it was a cesspool for black hat activities. Many occurrences of Denial of Service attacks was lodged from that SSID, a lot of identity theft, and black hat activities. It is just a better idea to buy your own connection from Time Warner Cable, AT&T ect.

Hey everyone,
I called Milpitas IT dept.  Evidently, Google abandoned Milpitas.  Silicon Valley Unwired is a non-profit organization formed between Google, City of Milpitas and another hardware company.  Milpitas provides WiFi equipments left by Earthlink when they failed their wifi business in Milpitas.  Google provides routing and maintaining the wifi network.  Google decided they no longer wants to support City Free WiFi.  Hence, SVUnwired is no longer exist.  "SVUnwired" access points becomes "Standalone" access points.  But evidently, Milpitas IT Dept. needs Google help get it going.  I won't hold my breath.  I'm getting XFinity now.

Milpitas IT Director's phone # is 408-586-2706.  You may want to call to volunteer.

Its been over a month now that public Wi-Fi is out of service. I've send few e-mails to them and phone calls too, but no reply... wonder why City of Milpitas is not taking steps to resolve the issue?

I forwarded an email from this forum about SVU to the Milpitas Post
hoping they would
investigate and publish something. Must be hush hush, or ??
Election coming and Internet Providers want your business (Unions).
Take your choice of any of these or perhaps Google just gave up for
various reasons.

Adding a card room over by stink ville is more important and a school right now.
