I have been frustrated with the svu service for quite sometime. at
first i thoght it was a great thing . but on my block we dont have a
node. I could pick up a signal but it was weak, but it worked! i
contacted svu by email and phone a dozen times to ask if we could get
a node installed on our block, i never heard anything back. then the
upgrade started and i thought i might get a good wifi signal. Things
got worse and worse about the time they said they were done. it was so
frustrating, the signal would drop in and out constantly, then finally
no signal at all! Sometimes the mbps was over 50 and still no internet
access,,,, Well i finally fixed my internet with comcast. the signal
is constant and i use a good old fashion WIRE to plug into the little
box, it works perfect . thanks for nothing svu.....except for
frustration. People that cant get a signal , i feel for u and hope you
get a WIRE to your internet soon!

Its free wifi, if you don't like it than take your cheap ass out of the discussion group. Its free and you have to be grateful to use it. It is a stepping stone for families who cannot have internet before they get it.

If the free wifi does NOT work at all, as in this man's neighborhood
and mine, why did the city bother having the nodes setup? What was the
point of upgrading?

You must be living in a neighborhood with good signals. Good for you.

This man is just being satirical.

I believe all Access Points were installed by Earthlink when they
marketed their WiFI service to Milpitas residents. I signed up and
fired Earthlink wifi several years ago. Earthlink abandoned their
WiFi business in Milpitas. I believe SVUnwired took over the
equipment left by Earthlink since I never see any changes to those
access points on top of light poles. They were there since Earthlink
came to the town. Hence, don't expect SVUnwired to add any access
points to other light poles.

SVUwired went to Milpitas City government and asked for $$$ for
upgrade. They got it and upgraded system between August - September
2011. After that, the performance, for me at least, was 900% WORSE!
So horrible!!!
