Wethen asked our students to get in a circle and told them that they were on a sinking ship, and there were only FIVE spots in the lifeboat. They had to work together to decide as a group which five people should go in the lifeboat.
"One thing that did not go well was there was a lot of stereotypes of "taxi driver" and the "currently unemployed". This is bad because just because someone does not have a job does not mean they are not smart. Also people were saying things like how can a taxi driver help. This made us choose people whose jobs make more money, not on their basic humanity!"
Credits are used to buy and upgrade ships. It is fundamental for gameplay: without it, you're lost. However, if you do run out of credits, there is a credits store in the lobby. They are purchasable in between of 20,000 to 5,000,000. Below is a list of the prices for each denomination, with the rounded values for amount per Robux.
Fishing can now be done anywhere by deploying the vessel's trawling net. Players can opt to head to specialized fishing zones to fill up their nets faster and fill it up to 100%. Both methods require the player returning to the fishing ports and unloading their fish. There is a fishing tutorial here.
Players can earn credits by delivering cargo from port to port. The income from delivering cargo is dependent on the value of the cargo per mile (which increases with larger and higher-capacity ships) and speed which contributes to a time bonus. The preferred routes for different types of cargo are:
Players can earn credits by logging into the game for X days in a row. On Day 1, the player will receive 2,000 credits. This increases in increments of 500 credits for every consecutive day the player logs in, amounting up to 182 500 credits earned on the 365th day of consecutive logging. Given this, if the player logs in every day for a full, 365 - day year, they would make around 33,945,000 credits in total.
Players that own Freyr-class trawler, and use the Radio Ship skin are able to receive donations, though it is not guaranteed that other sailors are willing to donate. Nevertheless, this can be an extremely fast way to make credits, given the grand amounts that rich players sometimes donate. There is a cap to how much a Radio Ship can receive in one given time, at roughly over 1,000,000 credits total for a server. Donations also have a 33% tax. Each individual donation is capped to 100 000 credits (70 000 credits after tax).
Players can earn credits by sinking any enemy warship. This only works on ships that have weapons capable of sinking ships, likely as an incentive to stop toxic players from randomly sinking vessels. You get 5000 credits per ship you sink.
Players can earn credits by being in a fleet. When a member of a fleet performs and gets paid via any of the aforementioned actions (excluding income from the Triple E-class Suezmax and radio donations), the other players in the fleet will receive up to 15% of the money depending on the amount of ships you own. The max you can get is 15% for owning 20+ ships. The highest amount you can receive from a fleet at one time is 256k from a Carpathia completing an Around The World charter.
It is important to note that the player's payouts are not deducted from the captain's initial payout. For example, if a player makes 100,000 shipping cargo, the members of the fleet will get up to 15,000 credits.
Specific vessels can pick up passengers at charter points. From there, the player is prompted to pick several routes varying in difficulty, distance and payout. The payout of the route is also dependent on the ship, but the way this is calculated is fairly inconsistent. The Sea Shadow possesses very few seats, yet has a higher payout than the catamaran, which has significantly higher seating capacity. Conversely, the Carpathia-class Ocean Liner has the highest payout out of all charter vessels at 30k credits per NMI. The best charter for grinding is the "Ushuaia" one from Ronne.
