Upcoming Events this Week:

Tuesday, January 23, 2018: Young Adult Adoration and Dinner
  • 7:00PMJoin us for Adoration in the chapel at 7PM
  • Confession is available in the main church between 6:00-7:00 PM
  • Afterwards we will go to dinner at 100% Taquito (3245, Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77027)
Mardi Gras Happy Hour February 9, 2018

Charis Young Adult Retreat -- Saturday February 10 - Sunday February 11, 2018
Are you looking to connect with other young adults who are also making decisions about career, vocation, and relationships? Are you looking to encounter the Holy Spirit working in your life and learn tools for decision making from St. Ignatius of Loyloa? Are you looking to grow to a deeper understanding of how you can use your unique gifts and talents to serve God? The Charis Igantian Spirituality Retreat for Young Adults, "Spirit @ Work", sponsored by the Office of Young Adult & Campus Ministry will give you these tools for decision making and provide the time to step back and listen to God more clearly. Cost is $50 per person which includes food and lodging. The retreat will be held at Cameron Retreat Center in Houston (2403 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77021) and will begin at 9AM on Saturday February 10 and end at 5PM on Sunday February 11For more information and to register online, please visit www.archgh.org/yacmPlease see the flier attached to this e-mail for more information!

Service Project with Young Adults
Come be the “hands and feet of Christ” with hundreds of young adults ages 18-39 at the Archdiocesan Young Adult Day of service, prayer and fellowship on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Teams will help serve those in need like Harvey victims, the sick, the poor, the hungry, homeless, prisoners and immigrants. The Day begins with 8:30 a.m. Mass celebrated by Bishop Sheltz, followed by breakfast then head out to serve in teams all over the city the day should be done by not later than 3pm. Online registration required www.archgh.org/yacm or call 713-741-8778. Participants can choose from a list of available service projects. $10 includes t-shirt/breakfast.

 

The service projects you can choose from include:

 

·         Casa Juan Diego

DESCRIPTION: Help organize donations. Flexible to do other things that will be needed on the day of.

 

  • Catholic Charities/ Caridades Catolicas

DESCRIPTION: Sorting Donations, organizing and making family kits for refugees.

 

  • Juvenile Ministry- Special Youth Service/ Ministerio de la juvenil-Servicios Especiales para Jóvenes

DESCRIPTION: First there will be presentation about this ministry, then we will put together 250 hope bags and write letters; after this we will pray outside the juvenile facility.

 

  • Magnificat House-Loaves and Fishes/ Casa Magnificat- Panes y Peces

DESCRIPTION: Assist cooks, serve meals, help clean up and/or chat with diners who are homeless.  

 

  • Project Cure

DESCRPTION: Sorting donations for medical supplies. This organization has impact on local and international areas.

 

  • Pro-Life Activities/ Actividades de Pro-Vida

DESCRIPTION: First Julie Fritsch the Archdiocesan Pro-Life director will give a presentation on Pro-life issues, participants then will help write letters and sort items for project Gabriel and proceed to peacefully pray outside an abortion clinic. 

 

  • Ronald McDonald House / Casa Ronald McDonald

DESCRIPTION: Participants will provide dinner to families living at the Ronald McDonald House whose children are undergoing chemotherapy.

 

  • Society of St. Vincent de Paul/ Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul

DESCRIPTION: Sorting donations, organizing and making packages. Volunteers will serve in the retail store, pantry services and donation and distribution services. This location is the hub for our services in the archdiocese.
