*******UPDATE: snow levels will lower sooner********
A strong cold front will move through Southwest Oregon and Northern California on Monday. Snow levels will drop sharply Monday through Monday night and will impact Siskiyou Summit Monday afternoon into Monday evening. Snow levels will continue to fall Monday afternoon and evening impacting lower passes such as Sexton Summit on Interstate 5 by Monday evening. Even the lower west side valleys could see light snowfall and some accumulation by Tuesday morning. Motorists should be prepared for winter driving conditions. An arctic air mass following the weather system will bring very cold temperatures to the area for the rest of the week with coldest temperatures occurring Wednesday night and Thursday. Lows will drop to single digits east of the Cascades and into the teens in the lower west side valleys. Precautions should be taken to keep pipes from freezing.

If you haven't, now is the time to 'winterize' your vehicle.  Be sure to check wipers, lighting, belts in the engine, coolant/antifreeze, brakes, and tires.  Carry chains, a shovel, and non-scoopable litter or sand.  Remember when using wipers, the law requires you to turn on the headlights.  The vehicle code requires drivers to move over for emergency and service vehicles.  Keep the fuel tank at least half full in order to stay warm should you become disabled/stuck.
