Folks:
I had a phone call fro Ron Quigley, the deputy director for the county OES (Office of Emerg. Services for those not knowing), with some good news for the valley.
Grant money is available to provide the 2-day CERT training through Humboldt State. This will also provide the backpack and equipment each CERT member receives for use during training/call outs. Once completed, the team will be utilized under the sheriff. Dennis Melum will be the sheriff's coordinator/adviser.
Please note: this is NOT intended for first responders. They will already be responding during an emergency, with CERT members supplementing them.
Those interested, please call (467-3752 after 12 noon) or e mail me with your information. The sooner the better.
