Good morning
Free business planning session for disasters
Moreton Bay Regional Council and Volunteering Queensland are joining forces for a disaster preparedness roundtable next week with local businesses.
Volunteering Queensland CEO, Perry Hembury said business continuity was a key factor in getting a community back on its feet.
“Research shows communities fare much better when local businesses are able to reopen quickly after a local disaster like a fire, flood or severe storm,” Mr Hembury said.
“So often it is local businesses that help make up the social fabric of our community. They are the local eateries, corner stores and post offices, essential to everyday life.”
Mayor Allan Sutherland encouraged businesses in the region to attend the Business Roundtable EXTEND next week.
“The roundtable is the perfect opportunity to think about your own business risks and start planning now,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“You will start work on a business continuity plan during the session to help identify your risks and put in place strategies to minimise impacts on your business.
“It is this type of resilience that helps businesses and communities bounce back after big events.”
Popular local restaurateur, Sam Ayache of The Rustic Olive is one of a number of local businesses attending the roundtable event.
The Business Roundtable EXTEND is a free information session and will be held from 9:30am to 11am on Wednesday 30 October in the Onoda Room at the Redcliffe Cultural Centre.
