Invitation to Garden Expo Information Night

Do you love gardening...do you love Samford….?

Well if either of these apply to you, we need your input. – And Please send this email onto anyone in your network who you think may be interested.

When:  This Wednesday night 18 September 2013 at 7PM

Where: Old Catholic Church Hall, Cnr Samford Rd and Camp Mountain Rd, Samford

A group of caring Samford residents who have a keen interest in gardening are looking to create a Garden Expo which will encourage gardening enthusiasts in the valley as well as attract visitors to our beautiful region.

Our vision is to create a not-for-profit venture where the entrance fees and some other proceeds would be channeled to the Samford and Mt Samson School Chaplaincy Programs who offer non-denominational spiritual and emotional support to school communities. They are in the prevention and support business: helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness, to drug abuse, depression and anxiety. They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for kids in crisis, and those who just need a friend. They also provide support for staff and parents in school communities.

Additionally, we envisage inviting Samford service groups and other NFPs to supply services for their own financial and group advancement. The third leg on our stool is the very capable and generous group of, initially, local businesses who have products and services related to gardens, landscaping and other outside pursuits who will be invited to commercially participate.

We do need input, as well as potentially helpers so please think about your skills and how you may be able to help, it may be just making a phone call to encourage others to come.

Please come along and lend your voice to offer ideas, as well as perhaps consider joining the group to set the wheels in motion. More hands make light work and this is such an exciting adventure we want to embark on that we would love you to join us.

The little seeds we plant this week could become the most gigantic Bunya Pines of Samford’s future. Hope to see you there

Cheers

Julie
