Today's Outage

The network was down this morning because of a problem outside of the
network: something went amiss with Verizon's telephone lines south of
us. The result was not only a breach in the T1 connection through
which we get our internet access, but also a failure of all the phones
in town.

Everything seems fine now.

I bother you with announcements like this because I think it is
important to distinguish problems that SVBC is responsible for and
those caused by outside parties. In fact, I really cannot remember any
recent outage that was not caused Sovernet or Verizon or Fair Point.

Fair Point is really dragging its heels at getting our wiring up for
the new T1, and I am incensed. We could have had that unit up and
running two weeks ago.

We continue to have problems connecting, I really can't remember the last time, we were able to connect.  I usually try to connect every morning to check email, bank balances, etc.........I am really at a loss, on what to do next.  I reboot, I disconnect the cord and replug in.......it says I am connected.

I am actually writing this from work ( the only way I have been able to check anything for at least a week)........

Help, please!

Peter,

I did manage to get on a couple of times over the weekend for a short duration. When it connects it works ok, it just does not have any consistency staying connected. When you query a page, it is like I am waiting in line for my turn then only get a quick instance for whatever needs to download  only get a fraction of what it is at a time. Then it will not finish and sit there not connecting. It is very frustrating. I am sure there is an explanation or solution, just have not found one yet. On with the search. Any luck with your quest with Fair Point? Hope you understand these are not complaints, just informational to help try to figure this all out.
