An intrepid band of members climbed on to Blake McClenachen's roof
Saturday morning ( April 11) to replace the old transmitting antenna.
The new antenna is clearly a much better unit. It broadcasts a full
360 degree spectrum (as opposed to the 120 of the old antenna) and
seems to have much more power. Many current users of the Allen's Hill
antenna will see an improvement. Other members who have not been able
to receive a viable signal in the past may be able to receive one now.
We have a waiting list.

Leading this project was Alan Clayson, who has done the lion’s share
of installations this year. Also up on the roof were C.J. Vadnais and
Peter Haviland. Chip Lovett helped with the early stages of the
project. Peter Grudin gave moral support and handed up equipment.

To all,

I notice my speed has been cut from 1000 kbs down to 500kbs. Is this because
more people are on?, or a change in the antenna we are now using?. I am
using the mcaffee speed test and have checked it this way since my antenna
was put up 4 months ago. I only have one computer running when I measure
this. I will follow up, but am wondering if I need to change the direction
of my radio?

Best regards

To all,

It just jumped back to normal speed, my guess is the fluctuation may have
been the site itself. I will watch this and let you know how I am making
out.; Sorry for jumping to conclusions so fast. Thank you all for your hard
work. I certainly appreciate it.

Best regards
