This flourishing downtown San Francisco startup needs a seasoned Staff
Technical Writer to document IT security products and help its
customers navigate the complex morass of compliance.
You’ll plan, create, and refine user-focused, persona-based
documentation for sophisticated IT administrators optimizing their
enterprise’s security and compliance. You’ll deliver installation/
deployment, configuration, maintenance, and operations manuals,
interview customers for use cases, write release notes, edit error
messages, and help implement next-gen doc delivery.
The product collects and analyzes live IT operations data, yielding
unique insights into potential efficiencies and risk reduction by
virtue of its infinite flexibility. The company has over 2000
customers in 75 countries, is doubling revenue every quarter, and
already serves half the Fortune 100.

Required:
• Demonstrable experience writing reference documentation and other
technical content for security or compliance-related products
• Working knowledge of network-based and host-based IT security
technologies and trends
• Passion for keeping up with IT security trends, threats, and
detection methodologies
• Proven ability to explain compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001),
regulations (e.g., PCI), and industry standards for IT security
• A flair for wrapping words around complexity, solo and under
pressure
• Portfolio samples providing deep technical guidance for using
complex enterprise software
• Exceptional ability to prioritize, self-direct, and deliver quickly
in an unstructured, interrupt-driven environment
Desired:
• Solid subject matter knowledge of IT Security and Audit functions
within large enterprises
• Ability to read Perl or Python, but not necessarily to write it
• Extraverted, comfortable approaching SMEs, customers, and partners
for technical input
• Experience using security information management technologies, other
reporting tools
• Work experience at Cisco, Blue Coat, Tripwire, Check Point,
Symantec, or with similar products
• B.S. or advanced degree in Computer Science or another technical
field
