JOB DESCRIPTION
The Technical Writer for Product IDD is responsible for (1) the language and format edit of English content, (2) coordination of substantive review by subject matter experts, and (3) coordination of proofreading and translation of Canadian French, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese content within consumer documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Confirm accuracy of English language documentation for the SCEA market.
· Coordinate substantive review by subject matter experts.
· Elicit meaningful feedback from experts.
· Verify
accuracy of content by testing with sample product, Q&A
with SCEI Document Design coordinator and Q&A with SCEA
SMEs.
2. Confirm accuracy of Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese language documentation for the SCEA market.
· Coordinate substantive review by subject matter experts in SCEA and Latin America.
· Coordinate substantive review by IDD linguists and by external agencies.
· Elicit meaningful feedback from experts.
3. Improve consistency and readability of English language documentation for the SCEA market.
· Develop and use standard text.
· Incorporate established style guidelines and required terminology.
· Use vocabulary appropriate for target audience.
· Revise for logical flow of content.
4. Document decision-making for future reference.
· Maintain an archive of all deliverables.
· Record important communication related to projects.
· Create a written record of important spoken communication.
· Compile information in a portable and easy-to-read format.
5. Follow Up with collaborative partners on the results of their review.
· Report on items that were confirmed or revised.
· Forward finalized master files.
· Distribute hardcopy samples from actual print run.
6. Develop relationships with collaborative partners
· Maintain
open communications with expert reviewers and external
resources to ensure satisfaction with processes, objectives.
7. Maintain tools and systems that support the Product Information group.
· Update databases with new content.
· Submit style guide entries and proposed standard text for approval and incorporation.
8. Support IDD team on technical writing matters
· Share written communication skills with team members as necessary.
· Suggest reference materials for use within IDD.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· People: relationship management, interviewing (elicit meaningful feedback from subject matter experts)
· Process: structured information development process knowledge, attention to detail, timely follow-up and strong organizational skills
· Planning/Implementation: implement projects under direction from Manager, ability to multitask and prioritize
· Technical: understanding of SCE hardware products, general knowledge of consumer electronics
· Language: Spanish language ability a plus for direct coordination with Latin American reviewers

· Help to shape user experience for home consumer electronics products and appliances including televisions, sound systems, IOT, etc..

Skills:

· 5+ years of relevant work experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and other front end technologies.
· Understanding of object oriented JavaScript, and JS analogies of classes, namespaces, modules and other OO concepts
· Strong skills in rapid software/hardware prototyping in tools such as Html 5, iOS, Android, Arduino, etc..
· Strong understanding of MVC concept.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
