Coach,

What time should people show if they're just there for IMLT send-off?

One week of taper is done and 13 more days to go until IMLT. You've probably noticed last week's workouts were still pretty long, but they are getting shorter. By the end of this week, you'll notice just how short they can get. This is an important week for you to get mentally ready for your Ironman adventure. So, if you haven't done so already, put your race plan down on paper. It's one thing to have it in your head, it's another to write it down. Just the act of writing will make you think of the various aspects of your plan. Also, your race plan is the beginning of your packing plan. List everything you need, and be sure to bring it with you to your event.

It is also a good time to make sure your bikes are in great working order. You should be checking your bike thoroughly to make sure your bike is shifting properly, your tires are in great shape, that everything is functioning as it should. Captain Joe is doing a bike cleaning/tune-up fundraiser and is the man to see if you need to get this done before your event. A great cleaning/tune-up and it all goes to the LLS. It’s a win/win situation.

If all of this seems overwhelming, don't worry, you're not alone. Ironman logistics are complex. To help you through it, we're holding our send-off/logistics Q&A meeting this Sunday after the workout at Gull Park. This will be when we go over anything and everything for your Ironman event weekend.

Remember, rest is number one this week. No workout from here on out will make you any more fit. The workouts are for "sharpening" your fitness, keeping the muscle memory going while you rebuild your stores for race day. If you need to shorten a workout, do it. If you need to skip a workout (in favor of rest, not partying!), do it. When in doubt, err on the side of rest.

Week #41Taper Week 2 IMLT – (Watch for the Captain’s email)  Note: Vineman and IMMT (Toor) participants continue your recovery and ITWS (IronTeam Withdrawal Syndrome).

We have 2 coached workouts his weekend. Saturday is our last workout of the season with the SF Ironteam before IMLT. More details to follow later this week with time and location.

Sunday is a swim and run from Gull Park with our IMLT Send-off after.

Please refer to the IMLT training calendars (Google Doc) link below for each days workout, whether it be a captains, coached or OYO workout. The training calendar will have the specific workout for you for each day of the week. This should help avoid any confusion on what workout you should be doing during the week. Captains and Mentors will still be sending their weekly update to you.

2013 IronTeam - Training Schedules

Fundraising:

So Ironteam (SF and SV) has gone over $500,000 in fundraising. Way to go Ironteam! Keep it going! Let’s take it to the next level. This is the best time to send out those emails, letters and FB posts to let everyone you know that you are close to your event day and there is still time to donate towards your fundraising. It never hurts to keep reminding everyone and every dollar helps in so many ways.

Honorees:

Please keep Andrew and Sylvia in your hearts, thoughts and prayers as they both continue their battle against this awful disease.

Well that about does it for this week’s update. As always, if you have any questions, concern, or comments, contact your Ironteam staff!

Thank you and Go Team Ironteam!
