Hello to my AWESOME Volunteer Staff….

This weekend Coaches announcements at workouts  Lets talk fundraising and how we can be successful… with internet access there are multiple ways to communicate to our donors and get almost instant gratification from an email sent out, updating your status or your blog… posting a picture of you working out from the weekend.

With that said I am going to ask Mentors that we encourage all of our participant to do a push this weekend and into next week and touch all of their donors by doing one of the following:

How to Promote Your Efforts Blog, Post, Tweet

If you are on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, your own Blog or any other online message boards or social forums start posting and tweeting. Let your friends, relatives and online communities know what you are doing. And then give them updates! After your initial posts and tweets about your efforts, let them know how your progress is going. Share things like training schedules ("I ran 5 miles today!") or fundraisers you may be holding ("Stop by our garage sale this weekend-proceeds benefit TNT!") or your own personal inspiration moments during the season!

Voicemail and Email Signature Lines

Leave a creative voicemail message on your phone or add a line in your business (if allowed) and personal email signatures about what you are doing - and be sure to include your fundraising link! "I'm not home because I'm out training for TNT!" or "I can't come to the phone right now. I'm training for the ______ marathon/century/mountain bike/triathlon event and raising money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. If you haven't made your contribution yet, it's not too late! Leave your name and phone number after the tone and I'll call you back!" or "300 miles of training, 17 gallons of Gatorade, 10 blisters, etc. For what?  I’m training for the Your Event...etc. If you're interested in making a contribution, email me at..." You get the idea!

Carry Business Cards with your Information

Print business-size cards at home with information about your efforts! Add details like the event you are doing, your goals, your connection to the cause or why you joined as well as your personal fundraising website. With these, when people ask what you are training for while you are wearing your TNT shirt on the trail or what your purple bracelet is for, you can give them your card and provide them the opportunity to donate to the cause!

5-Foot Rule

Let everyone within 5 feet of you know about TNT and what it is you are doing. You never know where your next donation will come from!

Devise a Story Pitch

What is interesting about your story? Are you the first or only person in your town doing Team In Training? Are there other team members in your community? The more unique, the better the chances of your story being told.

Include an honored patient. Are you raising funds in honor or in memory of someone close to you?

Talk about your fundraising goal. Are you close to it? What types of fund-raisers are you doing? Let your community know about blood cancers and how far away you are from your goal. It could be the push your campaign needs.

Create An E-mail or Print Newsletter

It's never enough to simply send out a letter. Be more creative and provide a personal newsletter updating your friends and family on your training and fundraising progress. Many word processing programs have newsletters templates to get you started.

Save money by creating e-mail newsletters. They are a quick and efficient way to communicate your TNT progress. Unlike a print newsletter, an email newsletter will most likely be passed on to others outside of your circle. Make sure to include a link to your personal fundraising page for donations. To avoid being labeled a spammer, avoid sending messages to those you don’t know.

Some ideas to discuss in either newsletter version include: information about your honoree, coach profile, statistics about blood cancers, and information about The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's patient services.

PLEASE BE AWARE:

As you are spreading the word about Team In Training and fundraising for the cause, please remember these three things:

Never enter anyone's house without their permission

Do not leave flyers or any other material inside mailboxes

Do not flyer or approach any property that has a "No Solicitation" sign posted

As always, use common sense and best practices when representing The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its mission. Your efforts are truly saving lives!

Also remember that my Incentive offer is still good until Tuesday, August 20thJ  Be the first to raise $2500.00 and get a $50 Gift Card.

Have a great weekend.
