Hey Y'all,
Just took my 2006 SV650 out for a ride and I've had it with my seat. I got rid of the OEM seat ages ago and purchased the Suzuki "aftermarket" one. It gives so much more support BUT it's much higher in the back and every time I let off the throttle or hit the brakes I slide forward and end up sitting on my, um, nut sack. I want to get either a Corbin of a Sergeant replacement.
Looking at both seats, it appears that the Corbin would solve my problem by making the back of the seat thinner so I have more of a pocket to push my butt back into. The Sergeant looks like it builds up the front of the seat. I'm 6' 1" with a 34" inseam.
In my mind I think the Sergeant would keep me on the back of the saddle without bringing my hips closer to my ankles. I'm almost 60 years old and ain't as bendy as I once was. Any thoughts on one versus the other? By the way, Scarlette has 81,000 miles on her. I plan on having new valve shims put in her soon. Any other maintenance you would suggest?

I had a Sargent (which is what I think you mean, unless an NCO at your local army base makes seats on the side) on a BMW for years and I as very happy with it.  Plus they are made in my old hometown.  I have sat on a few Corbins and whilst most people I know liked them or at least pretended to to fit in I did not like them at all.

If'n you haven't drained and refilled the cooling system yet it's about time.  Most people remember the brake fluid replacement but forget the coolant.

I seem to remember you were in the Tampa area - if that is correct, you can take a ride up to Sargent one day and try out the seats before you make your decision.

I had a Corbin saddle on my big GSX1100G and was impressed with it.  my arse was well supported on a bike that accellerated and decelerated well enough to either pin your eyeballs to the back of your head or the inside of your faceshield.

Great to see familar names here over the years....

I switched out my OEM seat on 'Ol Blue (2005) for a Sargent ~10 years ago and it has been great for me.  I'm a shorter, so it may not be comparable.  It made my trips to Austin so much better, but as I got older I started leaning towards a more cruiser posture and now use a 98 Honda Magna for the longer trips.
