The BDF internship program gives you the chance to work with professional artists and receive real mentorship from festival staff. You’ll take classes, attend performances, and experience events that spark connection and creativity. Most importantly, you’ll build meaningful relationships with a peer group that’s just as passionate and driven as you. This is more than an internship — it’s an entry point into the creative life you’ve been imagining.

- Complete the online application via Acceptd, which includes a cover letter, resume and the names of two references.
- Applications are due February 2nd, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
- There is a required non-refundable $35 application fee, plus credit card processing fee.

Technical + Site-Specific Production
6 positions. June 28 – Aug 4, 2026
Get hands-on with the magic of live performance. Work on lighting, sound, wardrobe, and stage design alongside the Festival Production Manager and visiting artists. Help build BDF’s in-house shows and take one PTP class (schedule permitting). Prior tech or stage management experience required.
Video Documentation
2 positions. July 8 – Aug 2, 2026
Capture the festival as it unfolds. Work with the Director of Video Archives to film performances and events while learning camera operation, editing, interviewing, and dance documentation. This is an intensive, hands-on internship—ideal for those with video and dance recording experience.

Video Promotions
1 position. July 8 – Aug 2, 2026
Create the festival’s short, punchy promo videos. Film classes, workshops, and performances, then edit dynamic content for social media. Learn gimbal skills, visual storytelling, and the full workflow from capture to upload.
Administration
2 positions. June 23 – Aug 3, 2026
Support the daily heartbeat of the festival. Work with leadership, manage office tasks, assist with scheduling, logistics, artist services, materials, the store, and more. Computer, organizational, and communication skills are key.

Arts Education

Teach, learn, and lead. Support classes for local youth ages 7–16 in dance, music, theater, and visual art. Assist faculty, help run the Finale show, and join planning meetings. Ideal for those passionate about arts education and working with young people.
Social Media

Join the media team and help shape BDF’s digital voice. Manage platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and the festival newsletter. Submit writing or social examples with your application.
Photography

Shoot the energy of BDF—performances, classes, and events. Perfect for aspiring dance photographers ready to deepen their craft. Bring your own camera; include a portfolio link in your application.

Keep the festival running smoothly. Support daily logistics from studio setup to transportation and campus coordination. Great for problem-solvers who enjoy being at the center of the action. Must have a driver’s license.
Producing

Work closely with the Festival Director to support artists in residence and visiting companies. Help run community events and special programs, and build strong communication and event-management skills. Must have a driver’s license.
