This workshop explores how film uniquely shapes intimacy, proximity, and emotional connection between performers and audiences. Through discussion and examples, we will examine how framing, perspective, and editing can deepen the viewer’s experience of dance on screen.
Participants will also receive a practical introduction to the filmmaking process, covering key considerations in pre-production, production, and post-production. We will highlight the power of storyboards and rehearsal shots as tools for planning and elevating your screendance projects, especially for those creating film for the first time. This session is designed to support dance artists at any stage who are curious about translating movement into cinematic space.
