Everyone!

The faculty and staff would like to invite all students to two upcoming discussions regarding next year's season planning.  Each discussion will follow a similar format with us first reviewing the relevant goals for the production slot, after which those that proposed each production under consideration will take time to present their proposals and rationalizations to the group.  Once the proposals for a particular slot have been presented, time will be set aside to discuss each production.  Some of the productions under consideration require conversation about how our departmental community would like our various racial, gender, sexual and other demographic identities expressed to our larger community.  For those that attend please know that we will be asking complex questions and request that everyone bring a growth and open mindset to the conversations and perspectives that will be shared in the room.  An anonymous feedback form will be provided to those that attend the discussion to ensure that all opinions may be considered.   The day, time, and focus of each session is below:

First Meeting (Fall 2026 Productions)

Wednesday, January 28th, 4pm in MU 209

Second Meeting (Spring 2027 Productions)

Wednesday, February 4th, 4pm in MU 209.

The shows under consideration and scripts for them may be found here:

We are in an ongoing process to figure out how season selection best serves all of our students. We would like to invite students to a student-centered workshop on Monday, January 26 at 4:00 in MU209, or over Zoom. This workshop will provide structured practice for navigating complex conversations in a group setting. This will be a space for dialogue, reflection, and expression in a supportive environment. Topics we will practice may include season selection, casting, and other issues. We want to provide space to discuss race, class, gender, sexuality, disability, and other concerns, and we particularly invite students who may feel that it is difficult to make their voices heard in a larger discussion. If even that feels like too much, the following faculty would be happy to meet with you one on one to help you practice these discussions. We would like to invite students to have individual conversations with faculty, and also to come and workshop these conversations. If you would like support prior to the meeting, please schedule these before January 26th. Additionally, you are welcome to come and speak with faculty after and in between the wider conversations in order to debrief.
