Hello TDAA students!
My name is Tyrese Sheriff, I’m a senior Dance Major here at SUU and I’m looking for 3-5 more artists to join me for my final choreographic project in Principles of Choreography!
This work is highly exploratory and collaborative, and will primarily use improvisation to generate movement material! This opportunity is open to any student interested in improvisation, collaboration, modern/contemporary movement, and exploring dance theater! Please read the brief description of the work and note the rehearsal schedule and tech/dress dates below:
Description:
This specific work seeks to explore the concept of contentment through consistent challenge, collaboration, and exploration of various improvisational scores. I’m interested in exploring personal definition(s) of the word ‘contentment’ while engaging with the polysemous and ambiguous nature of definitions. I hope that this will allow us to explore the concept of contentment deeply and personally. I have ideas of utilizing word association in my scores, combined with an element of spoken word performance to create a dance theater-like space that simulates a spelling bee.
Schedule:
Rehearsals - 10/22, 10/29, 10/31, 11/7, 11/14
Mandatory informal showings - 10/24, 11/12, 11/21
* Rehearsals and informal showings will occur during the Principles of Choreography class from 1-2:20 in MC 116, unless otherwise stated. Rehearsals may be added or discarded as need be.
Tech and Performance (Mandatory):
12/3 (1-2:20), 12/5 (1-3:30)
If you are interested and available, please send me an email and let’s chat! Additionally, you can view my final from Composition 2 last year to get an idea of my movement style and similar interests!
