The SUU Sustainability Club is going to a Repair Night. They are looking for people with sewing and craft skills to help out. Here's some more information if you're interested:
My name is Rylie Creager, I'm a junior here at SUU majoring in anthropology and social work. Alongside this, I am currently serving as President of the Sustainability Club.
We are hosting a Repair Night on March 19th from 5:00–8:00 PM. The goal of this event is to give students the knowledge and practical skills to extend the life of their clothing, promote sustainable habits, and help combat fast fashion by empowering students to repair rather than replace.
We will have eight repair tables:
Jeans repair
Lightweight mending
Sweater repair
Alterations
Crochet and knitting
Patches and embroidery
Button and zipper repair
Heavy-duty mending (backpacks, etc.)
We currently have volunteers for the backpack repair, Jean and button/zipper repair tables. It was suggested that I reach out to you due to your established skill set in this area. We would love to know if you might be willing to volunteer at one of our repair tables. Regardless of your availability, we would also truly appreciate any recommendations you may have for others with experience in this area.
Additionally, we do have funds available to procure any materials or supplies you would need for the event.
Thank you so much for considering this, we truly value the opportunity to learn from skilled members of our community.
Best,
Rylie Creager
