The Costume Society of America (CSA) is a professional organization that fosters an understanding of appearance and dress practices of people across the globe through research, education, preservation, and design. In an effort to provide greater support to students in CSA’s Southwestern Region, our region’s leadership team has developed a new student cohort program. Consisting of six students, the Cohort program will run from Feb-Dec 2025. Facilitated through regional leadership, Cohort members will be supported through:

  • Complimentary student membership to CSA, which includes membership at a national and regional level. Benefits here: https://www.costumesocietyamerica.com/membership-benefits
  • One-on-one mentorship with a CSA Southwestern region member, providing insights into professional development specific to the students’ career paths
  • Cohort meetings via Zoom, creating opportunities to meet other Cohort members and including talks by CSA members with advanced professional experience
  • Postings in the CSA Southwestern forum highlighting each Cohort member

Eligibility and application timeline information are detailed in the attached PDF, and all questions can be directed to me through my role as our region’s membership coordinator.

I encourage you to share this information with students, especially prospective student members who might benefit from mentorship and support from CSA.  Our organization is strongest when our membership is diverse, and I know there are lots of bright-eyed and thoughtful students in our region who could add important perspectives to our conversations and programming.

Thank you for your consideration!

Best,

Annette
