Dear Dancers,

We are now accepting applications for theMA/MFA in Dance at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU).All accepted students receive full fellowship support (no tuition costs) and annual stipends ranging from $8,000 to $16,000.

The Department of Dance at CWRU is home to one of the oldest MFA programs in Contemporary Dance in the United States. Founded in 1975, the program offers a rigorous, professionally oriented curriculum within a small, conservatory-like environment led by distinguished faculty.

Our students regularly perform works by faculty and acclaimed contemporary choreographers such as Mark Morris, Pascal Rioult, and Pam Tanowitz, as well as seminal 20th century artists including Martha Graham, Erick Hawkins, and Doris Humphrey. In 2023, CWRU became the first ensemble outside the Martha Graham Dance Company to perform Cave of the Heart. This year, our students shared the stage with the Graham Company in celebration of its centennial, performing Steps in the Street.

The department is also a leader in dance and technology, encouraging students to pursue innovative, boundary breaking choreographic research. MFA candidates have extensive opportunities to create and present original work through concerts, showcases, and informal showings throughout the year.

Through our internationally recognized Dancer Wellness Program and additional research opportunities, students are supported as they develop as intellectual and artistic explorers—prepared to lead, question, and expand the field.

We have openings for students beginning in Fall 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with interviews beginning as early as February 2026. Our program prepares graduates for careers as dancers, choreographers, effective artistic leaders, scholars, educators, and more. If you know a dancer who would thrive in this environment, we would love to connect.
