Dear TDAA,

Red Clay Dance Company invites advanced and professional-level dancers ages 18–25 to apply for our 2026 Summer Intensive, a two-week immersive training experience grounded in Afro-Contemporary practice and Artivism.

Taking place June 1–13, 2026 in Chicago, the Intensive offers rigorous technique, somatic practice, repertory, and creative process designed to support dancers preparing for professional careers or seeking deeper artistic development.

Rooted in African diasporic traditions, the program challenges dancers to bring their full selves into the studio—mind, body, and spirit—while exploring movement as a site of memory, resistance, and transformation.

Program Highlights

  • Daily technique and somatic practice led by Red Clay Dance Company faculty
  • Creative process and repertory labs featuring original company work
  • Original choreographic works created by company members Alex Kinard and Janiya Pearson
  • Artivism workshops exploring dance as a tool for social and cultural inquiry
  • Mentorship and feedback from Artistic Director Vershawn Sanders-Ward and company members
