Volunteers for this Sunday we are still meeting and creating our garden but it won't be quite as complex. After some safety concerns that were raised from facilities and grounds that children may be unattended around the raised tire garden and the possibility that they hang on and pull a tire off onto them selves. We have decided to no longer do the platform tire garden to prevent any injuries. The raised bed was a tribute to what we learned in Haiti and they did it to keep the crops away from goats. Here we only have bunnies and chicken wire can keep them out.
I'm actually relieved we no longer need cement, PVC pipes and ply wood or sun to create our garden.
Now we can focus on getting good compost and kid friendly finger food starts/seeds.
We need someone to create a weather proof sign for our
UUSC 100 garden
for Haiti food sovereignty
tribute garden
We still will have plenty of work to do Sunday cutting and flipping the 6 truck tires inside out I got from my dad and moving soil and planting. So let's get growing a new chapter of community outreach and visual presence in the community Supporting food sovereignty for Haiti and healthy eating for our kids here.
Many blessings
