HUMAN RIGHTS AND AGRARIAN CONFLICT IN COLOMBIA
A conversation with Luis Alberto Matta from PEN Canada
Luis Alberto Matta, a writer and journalist, has spent much of his
career documenting agrarian issues as well as the four-decade long
civil war in his native Colombia. His Master's thesis was on agrarian
reform and rural development as a perspective to build peace in
Colombia. In addition to his formal academic studies, Matta has
received training on such topics as pedagogy of human rights and
university teaching. Because of threats to his life by the Colombian
army and paramilitary groups, Matta was forced to flee Colombia with
his family in 2002.
