Hi everyone,

There has been a push for a significant increase in private jet air traffic at Hanscom. While surrounding communities have voiced their opposition—specifically for the negative effects it will have on air quality—the developers, lawyers, and Massport will present something different this Thursday (5/30) in Bedford. A large, in-person turnout is needed to demonstrate the magnitude of opposite to this harmful and ill-conceived plan. If you are available, please consider attending. While the meeting is hybrid, numbers on the ground is crucial.

Find details below!

Dear Friend, We want to let you know about this event in Bedford and hope that you can help us generate a large in-person presence.

On Thursday, May 30, at 6:00 p.m. the lawyers and paid consultants for the North Airfield developers and MassPort will be publicly presenting on their DEIR (Draft Environmental Impact Report). Note: This meeting is distinct from past presentations which were given prior the filing of their DEIR. The meeting will be held in Bedford at the John Glenn Middle School Auditorium, 99 McMahon Road

While it is hybridwhat’s needed on May 30th is a large in-person turn-out to demonstrate the magnitude of opposite to this harmful and ill-conceived plan.

BEFORE the meeting, at 5:00 pm, we will meet outside the school holding our signs and banners and greeting the developers and the public as they arrive at the meeting.  The bigger the crowd of people who oppose this reckless plan, the better! Some signs will be available to borrow, but please bring your own if you can. We will end our demonstration outside shortly before 6 pm and then head into the meeting room for the presentation.

This will be a peaceful and non-disruptive event.  We are coordinating with campus staff to ensure no issues with security. Feel free to share this information with your networks and affinity groups.

Important Note:  Concord residents should be aware of a climate presentation that evening at 7pm at First Parish in Concord:  Dr. Paul Kirshen will talk about the theory of climate risk assessment and adaptation planning and likely threats facing Concord and the Boston area in terms of environmental, social, and built systems in our region.  So, please consider first joining SPJE at the John Glen School from 5:00 to 6:00, and then transitioning to the 7pm talk in Concord if you are interested!

It will be helpful for planning purposes if you can RSVP to the Bedford event (if you plan to attend in person or virtually), so please click here.
