Beyond Plastics is hosting a free advocacy training between September 7–12 if anyone is interested in learning more about fighting plastic pollution! Details are below:
The training is completely free of charge, held virtually via Zoom, and requires just four hours, broken up into two, 2-hour sessions held on evenings and weekends.
Top-notch presenters. You'll learn from expert members of our staff.
Supportive community of like-minded folks. You'll have a chance to connect with people like you who are passionate about reducing plastic pollution.
Flexible scheduling. We offer both sessions twice on different days to help ensure that there's a time that works with your busy schedule.
Virtual training. The training is open to everyone in the U.S. All you need is a reliable internet connection.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
How to build a group ready to fight plastic pollution. How do you get people interested in joining meetings, help them work well together, and ensure that they stick around?
How to pick the right project. What are the best places to focus your attention for the biggest, most effective results? How can you keep yourself and other volunteers motivated?
How to educate people. How do you create lectures or events that people will care about and attend? How can you build buzz around your efforts?
How to get the media to pay attention. What are the tricks to writing a letter to the editor that will actually get published? What should you cover in a press release and when do you issue it? When should you hold a press conference or stage a rally?
How to influence decision-makers. What do you need to say and how should you say it? How do you choose who to talk to? How many phone calls and letters does it take to influence a Senator or Representative or a state or county level official?
I really hope to see you in September and hope you'llshare this invitation with anyone you think might be interested in joining you. Warm regards, Megan Wolff, Ph.D MPH Health Policy Director, Beyond Plastics
