Dear Green Mountain View Members,
Since you signed up to be on our email list, we know you care about
the environment.
We now have a CALL TO ACTION. We need your help!
As our first major undertaking in the community, Green Mountain View
will be managing the entire recycling and trash effort at this year's
Art & Wine Festival on September 12 and 13. This is a very LARGE
TASK, but a great opportunity to gain visibility in the community and
demonstrate that we're serious about educating the community and
protecting the environment. In exchange for our efforts we are being
given a prominent booth during the entire festival to extend our
community education efforts.
At previous festivals, many recyclables were put in the trash, but
this year we are going to raise the bar! WE NEED YOUR HELP for just a
FEW HOURS during the festival weekend to (1) monitor recycling bins
and encourage visitors to dispose of trash and recyclables in the
appropriate bins, and (2) transport bags of recyclables and trash
from small bins on and near Castro Street to
larger collection containers nearby.
All volunteers will receive a FREE Green Mountain View T-shirt!
To be blunt, the Art & Wine Festival is a very high visibility event
and has the potential to MAKE or BREAK the community's perception of
Green Mountain View. PLEASE consider signing up for one or more
3-hour shifts during the weekend. If you can do this right now, it
would help our organizing efforts tremendously. Sign up here:

GreenTown Los Altos has recycled successfully at street festivals in
its community for 2 years. There is no reason Mountain View cannot
meet this challenge as well!
Also, do you have any environmentally-minded friends who might be
able to help us for just a few hours, or do you work with an
organization that encourages community service? If so, please forward
the attached flyer and see if you can get a few folks to join you.
If you've been meaning to attend a meeting, or get involved in one of
our projects, we need your assistance now!
