Mountain View Art & Wine Festival
September 12-13, 2009
Show The Planet That You Care!
Be a Volunteer Recycler
Green Mountain View, the City’s community-based environmental group,
is managing recycling efforts at this year’s Art & Wine Festival. At
previous festivals, all recyclables were put in the trash. What a
waste! That won't happen this year, but only if YOU HELP!
Please volunteer for a three-hour shift at this year’s Festival as
part of Green Mountain View’s recycling team. Our work will keep
literally tons of recyclables out of the landfill and will encourage
the public to recycle more in the future. And, volunteers will receive
a FREE Green Mountain View T-shirt!
Overview
We need volunteers to:
• monitor recycling bins and encourage visitors to dispose of trash
and recyclables in the appropriate bins.
• transport bags of recyclables and trash from small bins on and near
Castro Street to larger collection containers nearby.
Details
• You will spend most of your time moving the materials in wheeled
toters.
• Shifts are about 3 hours long, most of which will be spent on your
feet. Most volunteers should be able to comfortably pull a large (96-
gallon) wheeled garbage toter that weighs 35 pounds.
• We encourage you to use alternative transportation (e.g. bike, walk,
take the train/bus), as parking lots near downtown will be full.
For most volunteers, the primary work shifts will be:

different hours between 7AM and 10PM either day, please let us know,
as we might be able to accommodate some non-standard shifts. Please
sign up now!
