Hi Tom,
I'm reaching out to see if you can think of anyone who can team-teach the Liberal Studies course on Waste next semester (SP20)? We had a garbologist lined up, but she is moving to D.C. for a job and will not be able to teach as planned.
The course will run MR 4:30-6:10 and will be team-taught together with Mara Horowitz from History/Archeology. Instructors get compensated the regular adjunct rate for teaching half the course (about 7 weeks).
I am pasting the heliotrope description below. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions you can think of. Do you think Dana Hall would know anyone?
Hope you have a good break and enjoy the holidays!
LBS3023 - Waste Worldwide
Humans have produced waste since the days of genus Homo, with approximately 102 tons of refuse accumulated by the average U.S. individual today. What can we learn from the waste of past and contemporary societies using household
archeology and garbology? Students explore life through the lens of waste, examining such topics as pollution, waste management, consumer capitalism, and environmental justice.
