Please make more calls TODAY to ensure this important bill passes in the NY Assembly! Thank you for taking prompt action in response to the alert we sent Wednesday. Many of you were able to call your NY Senators and express your support for bill S.3126A. And your voices were heard!  Wednesday afternoon, by a 54-9 vote, lawmakers in the New York Senate passed the Energy Efficiency Equity and Jobs Act. The bill is championed by WE ACT for Environmental Justice and supported by the New York Energy Democracy Alliance. The purpose of this bill is to ensure that New York's low-income communities and communities of color have access to energy efficiency funding and energy efficiency jobs. The bill will also help address lead, mold, and asbestos as part of energy efficiency retrofits, making homes safer, healthier, and more comfortable, while reducing energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions.   Alliance for a Green Economy, a co-founder of the New York Energy Democracy Alliance, is now working with our allies to ensure that companion bill A.3996A, introduced by Assemblymember Pam Hunter, is passed in the New York Assembly. TODAY we need your help to get the NYS Assembly bill moving toward a vote! Please call your NYS Assemblymember to ask that they co-sponsor A.3996A. With your help, we can get this bill passed! Please take a moment to read the joint press release issued Thursday morning by WE ACT for Environmental Justice and the New York Energy Democracy Alliance. As AGREE's Executive Director Jessica Azulay said, "Until now, state and utility spending on energy efficiency has been totally inequitable, with those who need these retrofits the most facing insurmountable financial and structural barriers.
