Dear Friends and Supporters:
We haven't seen many of you in a while but we hope the significance of remembering history this holiday weekend will inspired you to join us.
This Saturday October 10th at 11am-12pm we will hold a special rally in front of CPV to honor the history of the sacred burial ground at the site in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day. (Here's their GPS location). This rally will also be an ideal opportunity to remind all of our aspiring elected officials that we still demand that this noxious facility built on bribes and lies be shut down if they want our vote. We'll be joined by 845Unity a growing social justice group in Orange County! BRING SIGNS IF YOU CAN.
CPV was sited on one of the oldest farms in Orange County. At the northwest tip of the site an old military fort was built, now gone because of CPV corruption. Why is this significant? Because the reason the fort was built at that location, was that it was sacred to the indigenous Lenape people. We learned this history from Betts, one of our earliest oral historians, who worked as a slave in the house if Issac Dolsen. History can teach us many valuable lessons, some lessons can even save your life.
With Indian Point partially closed we expect CPV will be operating at greater capacity this winter. For the past two years we've had hundreds of health complaints and have deployed several air monitors around the CPV site. We've documented spikes in emissions much higher than EPA safety limits. This year we will be conducting a more extensive study guided by the Environmental Health Project and their team of scientists. If you would like to participate in this study please fill out this form here.
In CPV related news, we learned recently that CPV will be bought by two new foreign companies, from Israel and Singapore; so much for energy independence.

Finally many of you living near the plant may have noticed trees near you dying. We are beginning a survey of impacted trees in the area as well. Please fill this form out if you have trees dying on your property within the past two years.

Hope to see you there!
