PLEASE CALL KEEP CALLING GOVERNOR CUOMO - 877-235-6537
TELL HIM TO STOP THE GAS IN THE ALGONQUIN PIPELINES UNDER INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR POWER PLANT NOW! TELL GOVERNOR CUOMO TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP NEW YORKERS SAFE AND HALT THE FLOW OF GAS UNDER THE INDIAN POINT PLANT!
Since 2014, our communities along the route of the "Algonquin" Pipeline have been pressing elected officials and agencies at all levels of government to halt construction, and later operation, of the "AIM" Pipeline that carries fracked gas under Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant in Buchanan, New York. On Wednesday, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) released a scathing report on their investigation into the NRC approval of the Spectra AIM Pipeline under Indian Point.
The report backed up what safety experts, elected officials, front-line communities, and grassroots organizations have been saying for years: The NRC staff analysis of the safety of the AIM Pipeline was flawed, and the 20 million people living within 50 miles of Indian Point are now facing unknown risks of a pipeline rupture damaging the plant and the spent fuel stored there.
In the words of NRC Commissioner Jeff Baran: "The NRC IG found multiple significant problems with how the NRC staff analyzed the safety of siting a new natural gas pipeline underground near the Indian Point nuclear power plant. That’s totally unacceptable. The staff needs to explain how they are going to make this right.”
The NRC IG also found that, when challenged by knowledgeable stakeholders, “NRC failed to thoroughly reexamine the underlying premises of its analysis and did not accurately communicate its analytical work performed.” That’s extremely disappointing."

It is unacceptable for Enbridge/Spectra to continue operating their fracked gas pipeline in light of this shocking report, jeopardizing millions of people for profit.
Call Governor Cuomo at 877-235-6537 and tell him to take matters into his own hands and order relevant state agencies to seek an immediate injunction to halt the flow of fracked gas under Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.
