Hi everyone - Last Sunday's open pollinator gardens were terrific! I'm always learning something new and meeting more great people. Mark your calendars for this coming Sunday's open gardens:

“Garden Transformation” @ 8 Lake Road, Katonah
Starting with little to no experience, the home owners created this one acre sanctuary enjoyed by them and countless birds, butterflies and other wildlife.  Once overrun by non-natives like pachysandra and Vinca Minor only a few years ago, this property has been transformed into a thriving and biodiverse landscape with an abundance of native flowers, sedges and shrubs – with still room for more! Focus continues to be more sustainable practices, reducing lawn and removing invasives. Please note, first part of the driveway is shared with neighbors. Continue straight up to #8.

"Hoogland’s Garden" @ 36 Aspetong, Bedford
Almost 2,000 insect species have been observed in this garden. The flowering plants in this yard contribute to the bulk of seeds for the yearly Westchester Native Plant Seed Event with the goal  of promoting healthy insect habitat in Westchester. This Open garden is combined with a two hour seed collecting workshop organized by the Wild Ones Lower Hudson Valley that starts at 2pm. RSVP at https://lowerhudsonvalley.wildones.org/events/
