Hello everyone, As my first message to the rest of you, I'd like to
give a brief introduction of who I am, and what I hope to bring to and
take from this community.

My name is Rahul, and I am a doctoral student at the Department of
Communication at Purdue University (http://www.cla.purdue.edu/
communication/graduate/). Prior to this, I completed my Masters (also
in Communication) at Bowling Green State University (http://
scs.bgsu.edu).

I am presently based in the U.S.A., but am originally from Kolkata
(India), and have worked for 3.5 years in the financial journalism and
investor relations field in Mumbai (India). My research and practical
interests revolve around corporate social responsibility and other
matters of organizational ethics. I am especially interested in how
Indian firms (and corporations in other emerging economies) understand
CSR, how they practise it, how they negotiate with their various
stakeholders (investors, customers, employees, etc.) to help being
social development. Accordingly, I am interested in debating and
understaing these issues with you as a group, and contributing to the
general discussion on the same. I may base some of my research
projects on our interactions here.

Thanks Yatin, Rusen.
I checked out your site, Rusen, and I was curious how you operate it.
Do you have a group of people with you in Chhattisgarh (or elsewhere)
to update it, etc.? How do you get the news and interviews? Do you get
some PR people or companies to email you their press releases? I
notice that you work for Jindal Steel as well. What is that like? Is
CSR a priority at Jindal?

I am based at Raigarh (Chhattisgarh (CG).
Yes I have CSR Group In Chhattisgarh. I have professional Web Developer in Raigarh (CG) for updating portal on daily basis.
My source of Information are Company Press Release, Regular Discussion with CSR head of companies on updates on CSR. I take interviews personally. I have mail id for sending mails. Yes i am working with Jindal Steel. CSR is priority of Jindal Steel. Now i am improving csr communication across india.

Rusen,
Your work sounds very interesting. I will read through some of the
interviews on your site and get back to you.
I especially think it's interesting that your site is in Hindi... a
lot of the time, discussions on companies and CSR tend to be limited
to upper management in companies, NGOs and academics (such as myself),
using the English language and fancy terms.... common people are not
able to really get access to this. And I think that using HIndi is an
interesting first step in making CSR more people-friendly.

I am currently not in India, so my cell is a US number. would you
still want that? I am headed to Kelkata next month, however, so
perhaps we could talk over the phone briefly then.
