Hey friends!

Workshop #1 is over, and my house is all cleaned up and ready for round 2 tomorrow. Jana did an amazing job, and was a conversation facilitating wizard!

I will be putting together a spreadsheet of stats so we can gauge the success of the week as a whole. So far it looks promising! Everyone seemed to respond really well, and I was happy with the turnout, despite how cold it's been outside today.

Bring on day 2!

:) Michelle

Yeahhhhh! day 2!

Hey folks! Happy fknnn menstruation.
I am hella ovulating. Apparently my body wants to be impregnated by all of this lovely business.
Last night during the workshop I had some intense ovulation going downtown! haha.

Some things Ive been thinking and talking about since the workshop:
-I would like to chat more about support folks and child care. I think if we have a support person they
need to be acknowledged but then be separate from all the action so that folks who need support don't feel awkward about
approaching the support people.
From what I could tell no one needed support last night but I think the set-up was poorly planned on my part.
Most of the workshops we do at sustainable cycles this week except for consent (let me know if you disagree) don't
really need trigger warnings anyway so it doesn't super matter for the rest of the week (at least to my knowledge) but i think
in the future that's something to consider. So yeah
1. having support person be outside space that triggering shit might happen in
2. having training for both child care and support person before event and checking in with folks who will be doing it

In any case: im super pumped that the write up exists. Shit, I forgot to leave  that at Michelle's. Do folks think we might need the write up at Michelle's? Or craft supplies? Let me know and I can come by before tonight.

And then also: a lot of the conversations last night were flowing into consent based stuff and not so much consent/cyclical bodies topics such as the name suggested. I felt badly about that and still kind of do but because it was discussion based I let the topics flow and some folks who were there had never heard of consent before so we hashed that out a lot.
We did cover some things about cycles and consent and assumptions we make about bodies in the end.
Anyway,
1. I would like to do more time checks and lead discussion into cyclical bodies/ consent a bit more if i did it again.
2. More workshops! I think there is a big desire coming from folks to talk about this kinda stuff! You cant conniver everything in one night. I always forget about that. Consent is an ongoing conversation and we need to meet folks where they are at!

and then lastly I wanted to thank you all for your efforts in pulling this together. Thanks Michelle for offering
your space again and thanks Lauren & Tamara for the foodiez!!!!!

I wanted to mention to please help Michelle clean up after the workshop! I don't want her ending up with all
the messes.

SO much love. thanks for letting me ramble. well i guess i kind of imposed it.

Let's have a debrief after this week to chat about things that were fucking awesome and things that weren't so much.

I don't think I can make it tonight because I gotta work. However, if you need me to drop off that list- I will do that.
Let me know. I've attached the guidelines in the email just incase.
GOOOD LUCK TONIGHT FOLKS! YOU ARE GOING TO BE AMAZEBOTZ

-jana

I wish I could have been there! So exciting!!!!
I'm so happy that this all is happening.
That is a good piece to learn and know Jana to have a support person available elsewhere. My workshop Friday could be triggering for folks depending on their experiences....I have read about some pretty traumatizing experiences of menstruation.
I love you all, and wish I could be at all the workshops. It is so exciting to be engaged in these conversations with people, and every workshop is always so unique!
Looking forward to a debrief.
Way to go gathering stats! Smart people. I see grants in the future.
Love***
Lauren
