It's A Party!

Come to Sustainable Seattle's Annual Event and Awards Ceremony
on December 16th from 5-9 pm at Hidmo.

$25 general, $15 students and underemployed.

Haven't been to Hidmo before? Check out our video about our last event. We are collaborating with Pursuit of a Green Planet for the event, and will share proceeds.

 

It will be fun!

 

Groove to Music Artists Jon Ramer,  emerging hip hop

artists Young-N-Brave, Mads Jacobsen,  and Performance Artists Karin deWeile and Nicolai Lesnikov.

 

Bid on Silent auction items including  dinner for two from the Herb Farm, videos and books from John de Graaf,  local art, zipcar miles and other items.
 

Munch on Eritrean food and goodies from local bakeries including Macrina, Grand Central Bakery, Gelatiamo and Starbucks. Drink ticket included with the first 50 tickets.
 

Be amused by Sustainable Seattle's special way of celebrating our accomplishments. And what are they? Well.... We are celebrating a tremendous year. Remember we said we would rise like a phoenix in January. Well we have.

 

Check out what we have done:

  • Launched our 5th set of indicators - the Seattle Area Happiness Initiative with the wonderful John de Graaf
  • Gave 16 classes and brownbags to over 300 people with our Sustainability Training and Resources Program
  • Captured the visions for a sustainable future and the action steps to get there from over 20 visionaries with our Dream a Sound Future Program
  • Recognized 6 businesses with our Whole Environment Building Recognition Program
  • Finalized the Neighborhood Sustainability Scorecards for Rainier Beach and Greenlake neighborhoods and supported projects including two murals in Greenlake.
  • Issued a Neighborhood Indicators tool kit to facilitate hyper local creation of sustainability scorecards/indicators
  • Revitialized our Sustainability Awards program
  • Hosted meetings for professionals advancing sustainabiltiy with our Peer Alliance for Leadership in Sustainability Program
  • Collaborated with Sustainable West Seattle and Sustainable Ballard on a Common Sustainability Calendar
  • Held collaborative events with Walking with Africans and Leapfrog films
  • Collaborated with BALLE/Seattle Good business network to create an alternative currency on Dibspace Sustainability Cubed market space
  • Built a rain garden and created training materials on stewardship with Creatives4Community and Alleycat Acres
  • Provided fiscal sponsorships to over 13 cool organizations including Seattle Innovators, Sustainable Belltown, Alleycat Acres, Seattle Zero Waste, Seattle Greendrinks, Green Plate Special and others
  • Conducted leadership classes for K-12 classes as part of our Leadership Labs/Design Labs
  • Managed Zero Waste at Tour de Fat
  • Shared tables with SCALLOPS and others at Green Fest, World Changing, UW Sustainability Fair, and other events
  • Adopted a restoration site under People for Puget Sound on the Duwamish river and conducted restoration maintenance
  • Collaborated with Youngstown Cultural Arts Center and Sustainable West Seattle for ReFresh SW
  • Participated as a member of Green Fest Planning Committee
  • Hosted monthly happy hours inviting all of you at Fonte
     
  • Featured 12 art pieces by our 2010 Artist in Residence Nikolai Lesnikov
  • Brought our twitter followers from 0 to 1000 followers! Wow!
  • Exploded our blog and our facebook! In a good way
  • Volunteered over 8,000 hours and developed our team from two to over seventeen fantastice wonderful people

Sustainable Seattle's Annual Event and Awards Ceremony

 

 

If you can't make it to the event, show us your support by donating. Any amount helps. If you can, be a Friend of Sustainable Seattle by donating $100. You can give online in one payment or monthly installments or send us a check. Our goal is to raise $12,000. We have raised over $3,400 thanks to our friends.


New Home in the New Year
Sustainable Seattle is looking for a new home in the new year. Somewhere centrally located with people and organizations we can collaborate with and for little or no cost is ideal. Eco-Chic Holiday Expo on December 11th
from 10:00am-3:00pm at the Phinney Neighborhood Center - 6532 Phinney Ave N, and shop for holiday gifts from some of Seattle's leading sustainable lifestyle companies. Enter the
Eco-Chic Centerpiece Competition with your sustainable floral arrangement using local, organic materials. Proceeds from competition and silent auction items go to Sustainable Seattle.
