Greetings all LEO-4000 Sustainable Agriculture Standard Participants!

Brief Update and Meeting Invitation:

 

Update

Well, it has been a busy summer on the heels of a very successful spring meeting in D.C. The working groups have been meeting all summer long on their own time and are completing the editing phase of the first working draft of LEO-4000. Next we will put the draft through a technical editing process, review the edits this fall, then submit for public comment over the holidays. We are ever thankful for the core editors’ hard work and research.

 

All drafts are available online at the live respective Google Groups sites for your review or you may contact Leonardo Academy and we can send copies of these rough drafts to you or interested persons. Now is the time to review them and submit any proposed additions or changes and also to provide general moral, financial and voluntary support to our tireless subcommittee members!

 

Your support can now include participating in our new Marketplace subcommittee. They are in the process of creating a plan to submit to the committee on things such as education and marketing of the standard to the public, creating the brand and support structure for producers and users in their utilization of the certified standard. Join these exciting discussions on the future of our standard or refer someone from your Marketing, CSR or Sustainability departments to add their expertise and needs of your sector to the discussion.

 

If you have been on leave for awhile, please get reengaged in this national process! There is still time for you to have an influence on further refinement of the standard work products and support the planning of implementation on the horizon. 

 

If you have producers that would be interested in piloting the standard next growing season or persons with experience in livestock for subsequent versions, please refer them to us.

 

Meeting invitation:

 

Quarterly Standard Committee Meeting Friday November 16^th @ 10am-12pm Pacific/12pm-2pm Central/1pm-3pm Eastern times.

 

Please attend or send notice of your proxy’s attendance in writing.

This meeting will be held to review the LEO-4000 NSAS working draft standard after the summer drafts have all been submitted to the Standard Committee and we will discuss plan to approve drafts and plan to vote for submission for public comment. (E-ballots are not cast during meetings.)

 

A copy of the draft will be posted to the website prior to this Standard Committee meeting.
