Hello Everyone,
I recently received this email from Clive at the Tree Forum:
Dear Friend of Bristol’s Trees – Please find attached our one page analysis of how the budget cuts will affect tree planting and services. Once you have read it we would be pleased if you could comment – details below – Many thanks – Clive Stevens (Chair Bristol TreeForum)
PS: To comment on the tree budget: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/bristolbudget (closes 30th Dec)
(to get to trees you need to go through a few pages first and get to commenting on specific categories, you
need the second category. The first category is “Which proposal for improving business efficiency” so you
move on by ticking “go to the next category” which is “Which proposal for changing how we fund and
provide services” Bring up the drop down menu and half way down the list is “review tree planting and
maintenance service R-PL-012” select this and comment please).
I hope you'll want to help out and please feel free to forward to anyone you think that might be interested in assisting our leafy and needled pals. By way of an example (but feelfree to do your own) here's what I submitted:
On changing how we fund and provide services you said:
Review tree planting and maintenance service (R-PL-012) Strongly disagree
The ongoing tree planting and maintenance in Bristol must continue. Due to climate change, the city must increase its canopy cover to provide resiliance to its citizens and wildlife in the coming years. Trees also need to be a part of addressing the health inequalities in Bristol, particularly South Bristol (Bedminster, etc), which has been much neglected in regard to tree planting. The health benefits of trees include reducing pollution, providing urban sanctuaries, promoting well being and sustaining healthy ecosystems and are well documented. Trees are a long term asset that needs to have continued and sustained investment. Funding cannot be cut off to this valuable part of Bristol life which is feature that brings tourism to our beautiful city. The return on investment for funding this asset is the health of us, our children, their children's children and beyond as well as increasing tourist revenue streams for visitors wanting to visit a truly green capital.
Happy Holidays,

PS - I'm attempting to attach the Tree Forum budget analysis but it may not get through with the group email.
