Dear All,

Please join other community members in a
silent vigil in front of the Monterey Plaza Hotel, tomorrow, Tuesday, June 27th at 3:30 pm. To honor the Coalition of Peninsula Businesses for its last-minute decision to include Public Water Now representatives in the program, the public is now requested to gather and appear in general silence and to offer an ‘educational’ handout which PWN will provide. No signs, please.

This rally was initially meant to be a public protest to call attention to the Coalition of Peninsula Businesses’ lack of transparency around their June 27th event and the one-sided presentation by American Water Works attorney Joe Conner from Chattanooga, TN, who specializes in representing private water companies against public efforts to acquire their local water systems. Most recently, he capitalized on the successful public takeover effort in Missoula, Montana by increasing, (as in doubling), the price of the company being acquired.

Date and Time:  Tuesday, June 27, 3:30 pm
Location:  Monterey Plaza Hotel, 400 Cannery Row, Monterey CA

FREE Public Showings

This very riveting documentary on the politics of California water raises the possibility that a few major for-profit companies will control something Californians consider a right.

There will be a discussion following the showing.
