Tomorrow, Friday, September 11 is the deadline for submitting public comment via email to support the Coastal Commission Staff’s recommendation to deny Cal Am’s permit.  This is a critical juncture.  Public comment against Cal Am’s over-sized, over-priced, and environmentally unjust desal project is paramount.  Cal-Am is expected to launch an all-out effort to lobby the Commissioners to approve the permit.

Here are two ways to get involved:

1.    Submit your comments by email to CalAmM...@coastal.ca.gov and mate...@coastal.ca.gov by 5 pm on Friday, September 11. Please use the subject line: Deny Cal-Am’s Desal Project - Items Th3a/Th4a

  1. Speak for one minute at the Sept 17th Zoom meeting.  You must submit a speaker request (CLICK HERE) by Wednesday, September 16 at 5 pm.  Read the Special Hearing Procedures for the meeting to familiarize yourself with process.  Public comment will begin sometime after 1 PM and may continue for several hours. You may speak on one issue only (e.g., environmental impacts, environmental justice factors, economic burden, hurdles to implementation, Pure Water Expansion as a viable alternative, etc.)

Find talking points in the CCC Staff report

Here is how you join the Zoom meeting on Thursday, September 17th.
