As you may know, last Friday’s Special FORA Board Meeting in Marina was cancelled. At the start of the meeting, Chair Rubio announced that the meeting would be cancelled “out of an abundance of caution” rather than proceed and face a lawsuit over a Brown Act violation. The Feb 2nd Special Meeting agenda stated, “public comment ‘may’ be allowed, at the discretion of the Chair”, and that violated the Brown Act. For clarification, the Brown Act section on special meetings requires that public comment be allowed on any agenda item.
The Regular FORA meeting is this Friday, February 9th, at 2 pm, at the Carpenters Union Hall on the former Fort Ord, 910 Second Avenue, Marina, CA 93933. Again, Eastside Parkway Goals and Objectives is on the agenda for action, so you are encouraged to attend. People who spoke at last month’s meeting may not be allowed to speak on Friday, but we hope the Board Chair will allow comment from anyone who wishes to speak. Arrive by 2:30pm to allow time for a closed session and a few other items before Eastside Parkway is raised.
Please spread the word about Friday’s meeting. There is a lot of interest in this issue. Over fifty emails opposing continuance of the Eastside Parkway project were sent to the FORA Board in advance of the Feb 2nd meeting.
